What is Alpha for Catholics?

Alpha is a 10-12week course that presents some of the basic teachings of the Catholic - Christian faith. Participants meet once a week(Wednesday's), usually in the evening(6:45 pm). Each meeting consists of a light meal followed by a talk on a subject central to the Christian faith.

It is primarily for those who have little or no knowledge of the Catholic Christian faith, but it also is helpful for those who wish to explore their faith more deeply.

Participants then meet in small, prearranged groups of 10-12 people to discuss the talk. The environment is friendly and non-threatening, and group members are free to ask or express whatever they wish.

Alpha is a flexible and practical model which can work for any group of any size. Churches and Christian organizations of every background and denomination are discovering it to be a simple and effective way of presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ in a clear and nonthreatening manner to people from all walks of life.

Why Alpha?

Church attendance is in decline in major denominations. Churches running the Alpha course are experiencing dynamic new growth and revitalization.

One out of two marriages is heading for divorce. Alpha participants are experiencing changed lives and mended relationships.
